Dear Friend,
As you probably know, diabetes affects me personally. What you might not know is that there are nearly 21 million Americans living with this disease. You might not know that diabetes is the fifth-deadliest disease in the United States. You might not know about the complications that occur as a result of diabetes, including heart attack, blindness, stroke and neuropathy.
I’m writing to let you know that I’m taking action! This fall, I’m participating in the American Diabetes Association’s Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes fund-raising walk. Step Out is a chance for members of our community to take a stand in the fight against diabetes. We’ll walk not only for our own health, but also as a statement that we’re going to fight this disease.
Please support me in my efforts to help the American Diabetes Association find a cure for diabetes. Donate to my campaign! Here You can make your donation online or by writing me a check made payable to the American Diabetes Association. The funds I raise will support the research, education and advocacy efforts of the American Diabetes Association.
Help us stop America’s fastest growing disease! Your donation CAN make a difference- both to me and the millions of other Americans affected by diabetes.
Sincerely,
Kevin

The fight goes on to stay healthy this year. Not only am I feeling better but have started to walk with a cane at physical therapy. I’ve been told I must use a walker around others for stability. With all of that said, I am still having trouble losing weight. Weight has caused the problems that I still have and gets harder to drop weight as time goes on. All of the information on surgery for weight loss has hit a solid cord for me. As I follow thru the process of finding the best information I can, updates will follow.
If you or someone you know has had this type of surgery, please let me know the facts and if I can share them with others. For some this is a very personal matter and I respect that, for me I feel the need to share as much as I can.
As always I thank you for your support, prayers and well wishes.
Kevin
